Acupuncture is an ancient method of medical treatment that originated from Chinese medicine and consists of the insertion of extremely thin needles into the skin to help relieve pain.

Traditional acupuncture is based on the belief that an energy or 'life force' flows through the body in channels called meridians. This life force is known as Qi (pronounced as 'chee'). Poor health and illness can manifest when Qi does not flow freely through the body, therefore acupuncture aims to restore the flow of Qi, thus also restoring health.

A course of acupuncture is usually recommended as it can take a few sessions for you to see improvements in your health.

What About Dry Needling?

Similar to acupuncture, dry needling is a technique that also involves the insertion of fine needles into target areas of the body in order to treat myofascial trigger points.

Dry needling increases blood to accelerate the healing process and enhance recovery. Decrease pain by stimulating sensory nerves under the skin and in the muscle. This results in the body producing natural substances, such as pain-relieving endorphins.
